NASCAR O’Reilly · Gateway

Two crewmen were hit. NASCAR cannot call the outcome a safety plan.

A chain-reaction crash at the Stage 1 break blocked Gateway’s 25-foot-wide pit road. Nick Sanchez’s sliding car contacted rear changer Bryan Backus and jackman Matt Wilps while Rajah Caruth’s car knocked a tire from carrier Brad Donaghy’s hands. All escaped without reported injury.

NASCAR O’Reilly · Bristol

Creed waits until overtime, then takes Bristol and the Chase lead.

Sheldon Creed led only the final three laps of the 305-lap Food City 300, using fresh tires to beat William Sawalich by 0.253 seconds. Brent Crews finished third, one week after his crew’s Gateway escape.

MotoGP · Austria Sprint

Martín falls to eighth, fights back to first—and retakes the points lead.

Jorge Martín recovered from a chaotic opening lap and capitalized when Pedro Acosta crashed from the lead. Martín won ahead of Marc Márquez and Marco Bezzecchi, carrying a three-point championship advantage into Sunday.

NASCAR Cup · Bristol

No practice. No qualifying. Larson starts first in the Bristol night fight.

Lightning canceled Friday’s Cup practice and qualifying, putting Kyle Larson on pole by the rule-book metric beside Joey Logano. Denny Hamlin starts third for Saturday night’s 500-lap Chase race.
